Leg#3 MTB 40 km

We have sub-divided the mountain bike course into two parts. 1 Day competitors will tackle both parts in one go, while 2 Day competitors will do part 1 on the first day, and re-start at Erica Sun morning to complete part 2.

MTB PART 1

Starting from Bruntons Bridge campground, the mountain bike leg follows a backroad towards Walhalla. After the major uphill coming from the river, followed by steep downhill back to the river at the crossing point at Coopers Creek campground, it is then another uphill, along the main backroad.  You will turn to the famous rail trail which will take you towards Erica town. Before reaching the town, you will explore a 5km “Crazy Snake” loop in Erica Mountain bike park.

Two-Day racers will finish their first day here, while One-Day competitors will cross the road and continue on.

MTB PART 2

NOTE: 2 Day competitors re-start at Erica town on the second day.

Soon after leaving the township you will join the “Winch line” section of Erica Mountain bike trails. This is another 3km of mainly downhill single track. Before reaching the bottom of the downhill track, the course turns right and joins into another section of the historic rail trail. The course follows 6km of flat, 4WD rail trail, with Victorian rainforest at it's best and abundant wildlife around, to join Tebit Rd for 200m and then turns to Finns track. Following a few more 4WD tracks, the course climbs up to the South Face Rd, where it turns left along South Face Rd for 1km, then a sharp right, down to the Eastern Tyres campground (also recognised as O’Sheas Mill site by Google), where the final transition area is.
