The course
The Baw Baw Trail run time trial traces the last section of the epic Baw Baw Extreme multiport race, and does not lack for the beauty or stunning landscapes of its full counterpart.
You will start at O'Sheas Mill Site, East Tyers Campsite and be heading along the scenic and one of the most remote sections of the Australian Alps walking track reaching out spectacular Mushroom rocks before you know it. The only way is up from there, culminating with another steep pinch to mt Erica and Talbot Peak.
Soon after you will be on Mt Baw Baw Plateau and the finish line is at the Baw Baw Village restaurant is not that far away.
This is a one-way race, you need to either arrange a car shuffle or book a bus to the start from the race HQ (Mt Baw Baw village).

Start time is 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
Yes, that’s right. The start time is flexible. At the registration you will receive a timing chip and a race bib. When you’re ready to start just push a button at the ‘start’ station with your timing chip and run/trek up. At the finish line there will be a ‘finish’ station. After the finish, hand over your timing chip to the finish crew.
Registration
At the race HQ - Mt Baw Baw Village restaurant Saturday night 6-8 PM and Sunday morning from 6:30 am till 7: 30 am. NO registration at the start line.
Presentation
Will be at 3 pm at Baw Baw Village restaurant.
Until then sit back, enjoy a delicious meal and the view from the top. You deserve it.
Course marking
The course is fully marked with ribbons and arrows at the intersections but general understanding of the course will be beneficial. There are not many intersections, but it is a good idea to check the course maps before the race.
Mandatory gear
It’s an alpine environment and the weather can change very quickly.
An absolute minimum to be safe and compulsory to carry:
- Water 1 litre minimum (2,5 is recommended for mid - field runners).
- Water-proof hooded jacket (gore-tex is recommended).
- Thermal top and bottom (can be on you).
- Emergency blanket
- Mobile phone
- Whistle
- Course map (provided by race organisers)
- Timing chip (provided by race organisers)
- Race bib (provided by race organisers)
- Food for 3-7 hours
Recommended:
- Beanie /cap
- Sunscreen
- Gloves
- Overpants
Drop bags
Gear can be left at the start line with your number and name, packed in the bag. These bags will be delivered to the finish line by the presentation (3pm).
Estimated winning time: under 3 hours while walking all the way up can take up to 7 hours.
Withdrawing
The course is very remote and the only point where withdrawal is possible is Erica Car park.

Getting to the start line
Shuttle bus is offered from Mt Baw Baw resort Sunday at 7:00 am. The bus will take you to the start line, so you can leave your car on the mountain.

Will be available at bawbawextreme.com.au after the finish of the event and emailed to all participants.
